The works on this page were created to process and express our personal experience. They reflect emotion, reflection, and perspective, while the merits of what occurred are being addressed by the courts.
Out of frustration with the Department and the slow pace of proceedings in dependency court, I began writing down some of the absurdities we were experiencing along the way. I shared some of those notes with my friend Willie D., who encouraged me to turn them into something more, and helped me bring them to life through music.
What began as a personal exercise became a much-needed diversion and creative outlet during a protracted legal battle that was forced upon our family. The songs "Welcome To The Machine" written by Scott and "Taken Away" written by Elisabeth are informed by our fight for the children’s return and reflect the emotions, moments, and experiences we encountered throughout that difficult process.
